CentOS

CentOS 5.5 was released in May 2010.

The Official CDs and DVDs are available for i386 and x86_64 (amd64). The standard CD sets are the equivalent of the DVD.

A total of seven (i386) eight (x86_64) CDs. The four CD set ($30) is recommended on the basis of a previous test installation.
DVD $15.
The x86_64 DVD overflows onto a 400Mb CD. The single DVD should have everything most people want. The two disc set $22.50

Live CD for either i386 or x86_64 $7.50.

CentOS is an Enterprise-class Linux Distribution derived from sources freely provided to the public by a prominent North American Enterprise Linux vendor. CentOS conforms fully with the upstream vendors redistribution policy and aims to be 100% binary compatible. (CentOS mainly changes packages to remove upstream vendor branding and artwork.)
In short, CentOS is Red Hat without the trademark logos and names.
CentOS can be used instead of RHEL when support is not required.

CentOS is not the same as Fedora. CentOS is a rock-solid conservative distro suitable large scale international deployment. Fedora is leading edge and more experimental.
