The Copyleft Standard Debian 5.0.0 Disc
sets
The Standard sets are based on the Debian multi-desktop series
which enable the installer to choose between Gnome, KDE, LXDE and
Xfce desktops prior to installation.
The standard sets have a simplified boot menu, the placement of the
packages has been revised and non-free has been included.
==The package placement order - dependencies etc are
included.
---essential and basic packages which I consider important
---all packages associated with a task
- - - All these are included on the first four CDs.
---non-free docs. A number of free packages have non-free
docs.
- - - The above are included on the first five CDs
---the non-free packages which I consider important, about
66%
The non-free packages pull in a good number from "main".
- - - The above are included on the first DVD.
---The rest from non-free
---packages not yet placed listed in "popularity-contest"
---the rest of the packages in the archive.
The first CD can be used for a network installation of the chosen
desktop. It cannot be used for anything else by itself.
The "main" archive is made up of the free packages. It is by far
the largest section of the archive.
"popularity contest" ranks the packages according to their
popularity. The statistics are gathered from users who are part of
the popularity contest team.
A considerable percentage of the documentation for packages in main
are not free and so are included in non-free. The CDs use 700mb
media.
